Nesto Congress – Dentistry for rabbits and rodents
Nesto organizes its very first congress, and it is one to sink your teeth into.
During 3 days, from April 29th till May 1st, Dr. Vladimir Jekl will take the floor to teach veterinarians about rabbit and rodent dentistry. In the Nesto headquarters in Leuven, he will take you from the basics to the slightly more advanced material.
Why this topic you ask?
Over two-thirds of rabbits and rodents’ veterinary consultations are dental related. The aim of this course is to give veterinarians a thorough understanding of etiology, diagnosis and treatment of dental disease in rabbits and rodents.
Day 1 – 29/04 – Basic principles:
The first day will cover basic principles with lectures about dental anatomy and radiology of rabbits and rodents. Treatment by coronal reduction and occlusal surface adjustment will also be discussed.
Day 2 – 30/04 – Advanced principles:
On the second day advanced topics as incisor correction, extraction and treatment of dental abscesses in rabbits will be explained, as well as treatment of dental disease in chinchilla and guinea pigs.
Day 3 – 01/05 – Advanced workshop:
Upon invitation only for selected Nesto members
The course will be given by Dr. Vladimir Jekl and will be given in English. Dr Jekl is a professor at the University of Brno and a European recognized specialist in zoological medicine. His main research areas are internal medicine of exotic pets and laboratory animals and dentistry in exotic pets.
